Thermal Storage Finland Oy (TSF) and Harvia Group Oy (Harvia) have signed a letter of intent to supply TSF’s hybrid thermal power plant to Harvia Group’s EOS Saunatechnik factory in Driedorff, Germany. Harvia aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its operations in order to limit global warming and to contribute to global environmental protection efforts. This requires systematic action in many areas, such as energy use, logistics and procurement. Harvia’s goal is to achieve carbon neutrality in its operations by 2030.
“We strive for carbon neutrality in our operations to limit global warming and promote global measures to protect the environment.”
Mika Suoja – Production Director, Harvia
Thermal Storage Finland Oy sells and manufactures unique self-developed hybrid thermal power plants for the renewable CO2-free heating energy market. The company aims to be the leading manufacturer of hybrid thermal power plants in Northern Europe. The hybrid thermal power plant will use modern heat pump technology and solar thermal and electrical energy, controlled by an intelligent control system developed in-house. Janne Ritakoski, the company’s CEO, is excited about truly opening up international markets with a reliable Finnish brand.
“We have been working on the German market for more than a year to understand the local market and state-specific subsidies for the transition to renewable heating. The German-Finnish Chamber of Commerce, with whom we have worked very closely and comprehensively, has been a great help. We are very excited and proud to be able to promote internationalisation in cooperation with Harvia, which has concrete and ambitious goals to achieve carbon neutrality.” – Janne says.
Mika Suoja , Production Director at Harvia, sees Harvia’s goals as ambitious, but at the same time extremely realistic. However, concrete measures are always at the heart of achieving the objectives.
“When I first heard about TSF’s hybrid power plant, I saw it first and foremost as a concrete solution with immediate impact. The solution offered was understandable and also very accurate in terms of the calculations. The current use of oil as a source of heating energy for the German plant can be replaced by a 100% carbon neutral solution and at the same time we will be able to make significant savings in our annual heating costs. Our target is to cut Scope 1 emissions across the Group by around 30% for this single project. For these reasons, this is a very significant and impressive project. We are also delighted to be at the same time leading the way in new innovative solutions towards our common carbon neutral future.” – Mika comments.
The parties’ common goal is to have a hybrid thermal power plant in operation at Harvia’s German plant already for the coming heating season.
